Do you know the most forgotten aspect of a great presentation? Hint: It's not body language.
When presenters prepare for a presentation, they first think about their content.
Then, they think about visuals aides (slides, props, etc.)
They may think about the clothes they will wear.
They may also think about body language... How to stand, how to use their hands and so on.
These are all good things to put in practice. However, ...
... there is one other aspect often overlooked. Do you know what it is?
The speaker's state of mind!
The audience will undoubtedly perceive the energy of the speaker. The attendants will sense if the speaker has the best intentions or if the speaker is inauthentic. It’s something that cannot be faked.
When preparing for your presentation, think about how you can best help the people in the audience.
And, just before going on stage, take a moment to regroup and to place yourself in a state of mind that is positive and caring. I personally like imagining I am going for coffee with a good friend. It relaxes me and puts me at ease. The audience feels it and I am able connect on a different level.
Add this special ingredient to your next presentation. You will be surprised that it has the power to make a great presentation become truly exceptional.
