Transform your “but”
The best exercises to transform your butt take effort and consistency.
But what about the other *but*, the one with just one "t"?
That one could use some transformation too.
When you use "but" in conversations, it can sound dismissive or even rude.
Why?
Because it often cancels out everything you just said and shuts down ideas instead of building on them.
A simple shift? Swap "but" with "and."
While changing one 3 letter word by another might seem small, it makes a big difference.
Using “and'“ allows you to acknowledge what others are saying while adding your own thoughts.
For example:
- “I hear your point, but I think...” becomes “I hear your point, and I think...”
- “I understand your concerns, but we can’t change the plan.” turns into “I understand your concerns, and we can explore alternatives.”
Pay attention to how often you use "but."
Make a conscious effort to change it, because small shifts like this can make your conversations more open and positive.
